Tikkie fraud: is this Tikkie link safe?
Tikkie has become so ordinary that a fake Tikkie link no longer stands out. One rule makes the difference: a Tikkie can only be paid, never received — and the link always starts with tikkie.me.
Fake Tikkies come in three forms. The copied link (tikkie-betaal.nl, tikkie.me-verzoek.com) that leads to a fake bank page. The “Tikkie to receive” on Marktplaats, which does not exist. And the real Tikkie with a wrong amount or from someone pretending to be a friend.
Tikkie itself is an ABN AMRO app and works through your own bank. A real Tikkie, after tikkie.me, opens your bank’s payment page or app. Does a page ask for your login codes? Then it is not a Tikkie.
How to spot it
- 1The link does not start with tikkie.me.tikkie-nl.com, tikkie.betalen.info, tikkie.me.verzoek.nl: all copies. Only tikkie.me counts — followed immediately by a slash.
- 2“Scan or click to receive.”Does not exist. With Tikkie you request money; whoever pays clicks. Someone who “sends you a Tikkie to pay you” wants you to pay.
- 3The amount or the name is wrong.“€ 0.01 to verify”, a familiar name at an unknown number, an amount that does not match what you agreed.
- 4The page asks you to log in.A real Tikkie takes you to your banking app or the iDEAL choice. Never to a form with username and password.
- 5The request comes through a link in a text from an unknown number.Tikkie requests come from people you know, in an app you know.
A real example, taken apart
- You received nothing — check your banking app, not the link.
- The domain is not tikkie.me.
- The story (“too much by accident”) is meant to make you pay out of guilt.
What you do
- Read the link before you click.Does it start with tikkie.me/? Then continue. Otherwise not.
- Check name and amount on the payment page.Does the name match who you expect and the amount what you agreed? In doubt: call the person.
- Pay through your own banking app.Choose your bank on the Tikkie page and finish in the app. Anything asking for login details outside your banking app: stop.
- “Send money back”? Look first. If someone really transferred too much, you see it in your banking app. Then you transfer it yourself to the account number of that payment — not through a link.
Never do this
- Pay a Tikkie in order to receive money.
- Enter your bank login on a page that opens after a Tikkie link.
- Refund through a link instead of through your own banking app.

Questions people ask
Can a Tikkie link itself be harmful?
A real tikkie.me link is not. The danger is in copied links and in what you enter on the page.
I paid a fake Tikkie. What now?
Call your bank via the number on your card, have your card blocked if you entered login details, and file a police report. See Scammed — what now?.
Can I block Tikkie requests from strangers?
Tikkie works with links, not with a list. The best filter is you: unknown number plus money request is a no.
